How to lube a bicycle chain

Rusty bike chain can slow you down and cause noise. Lubricate the chain to reduce shifting and extend chain life. Here's how to keep your chain so trouble-free.

This is the tool you need:
- Rag
- Bike Lube
- A New Bicycle Chain (if A Long Does Rusty)
 

1. Place the bike on a newspaper or in a place that can get dirty.
2. Lean the bike against something so the pedals can still be changed freely.
3. Hold the fabric at the bottom of the chain to prevent the dripping grease to the wheels.
4. Using a special bike lucbricant infusion drop of oil to each roller chain. The best way is to apply lube to the chain touches the tooth. Avoid lubing the gear bikes, they do not need it and the excess lube can cause them to quickly broken.
5. Slowly spin the pedals backwards while continuing to trickle into the chain lube.
6. After the chain is covered entirely in a thin layer of lube lubing stop!
7. Take the light chain with a cloth and spin the pedals backward. This eliminates the excess lubricant can attract dirt and wear out your chain.
8. Wipe any excess oil or splashing from a bike with a cloth to give special attention to the rim.

instructions:

bike shops carry a wide range of chain lubricant designed specifically for bicycles. Some are made of wax or Teflon instead of fat, and will not leave stains when they touch the clothing or skin. Everyone has an opinion the best. Ask your mechanic.

Avoid fat thick wick. That blob, taking sand and dirt, and will leave stains all over you. Avoid WD-40 because it did not attract much lube and dirt.

If your bike is very dirty, clean with a cloth and degreaser before lubing. . If the chain is rusted, replace it.
